I just came across the short but powerful article at Banner of Truth’s site.  The author of the article is Ian Hamilton.  He pastors Cambridge Presbyterian Church.  Hamilton entitled his article after a quote from John Owen which says, “Without the Holy Spirit we may as well burn our Bibles.”  Hamilton reminds us of the importance not only of biblical orthodoxy but of the necessity of the Spirit to empower the Word of Truth in the lives of the speaker and hearer.  This is a very pointed reminder for all who teach and preach the Scriptures.
